New Tools for Psychologists in the Workplace
by Corporate Relations and Business Strategy Staff
May 23, 2007 -- For psychologists who work with organizations, keeping up with the latest developments just got a little easier. In March, the Practice Directorate rolled out three new resources to help you stay up to date -- all available at www.phwa.org, the Web site of the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Program.
Overwhelmed by the stacks of unread journals and other periodicals you’ve been meaning to get to when you have some downtime, the one million results you get when you type “workplace health” into Google and the conference you didn’t know about in time to book that supersaver airfare? “When your calendar is overflowing and you’re stretched to the limit, those reading materials can start to pile up,” says David W. Ballard, PsyD, MBA, the Practice Directorate’s Assistant Executive Director for Corporate Relations and Business Strategy. “We’ve created a one-stop-shop for the information psychologists need to stay current and help their business clients thrive.”

“People tend to think of the practice community as psychologists who provide mental health services,” says Ballard, “but in reality, practitioners work in a variety of settings, applying their expertise in human behavior to help individuals, groups, organizations and communities thrive. The resources at phwa.org are designed to provide practitioners with new tools to help them bring the best of what psychology has to offer to the workplace.”
