Certification for Licensed Psychologists in Substance Abuse Treatment
The APA Practice Organization's College of Professional Psychology offers a mechanism for psychologists who are licensed health service providers to identify clearly to third party payers and other consumers of psychological services that they have earned a credential in the treatment of persons for alcohol and other psychoactive-substance use disorders. The College's credentialing process will help licensed providers overcome the obstacles created by the lack of specificity inherent in generic licensure.
Note: The College of Professional Psychology is a professional certification entity of the APA Practice Organization; it is not involved with graduate or undergraduate education in psychology. If the latter is your interest, please direct your inquiry to the Education Directorate: EDmail@apa.org.
